Our Writing Agent now edits like a person, not a vending machine
Most AI writing tools work like a vending machine. You put a prompt in, a script falls out, and whatever came out is what you get. If the hook is weak, you ask again and hope.
That is how Cuely's Writing Agent worked too. We rebuilt it to work the way an editor does: write, read it back, find what is weak, fix that part, check again.
What changed
The agent now works in steps, and you can watch every one of them.
- It reads your script first: your sections, your shot notes, how long it is.
- It writes or rewrites only what you asked for. Ask for a stronger hook and it touches the hook. The rest of your script stays yours.
- It checks where viewers would leave, with the same retention check behind the Retention button: a weak hook, a stretch that drags, a promise with no payoff.
- It reads its own draft for lines that sound like AI wrote them, and rewrites only those.
- It fixes the two or three weakest parts, then checks again. At most two rounds, so it does not burn your credits polishing forever.
A full script usually takes 5 to 8 steps and about 20 to 35 seconds.
You see it think
While it works, the panel shows one line of what it found and what it does next, then the step it takes. For example: "The hook promises nothing specific, so I'm rewriting it first." Then: Rewriting the hook. Checking where viewers drop off.
You can press Stop at any point. Your script goes back to how it was, and the steps it did not take are not charged.
You see the script change
The changes show up in the editor as they happen. Only the sections the agent is working on are marked, so you can follow it through your script: the hook, then the ending, then the part in the middle that dragged.
When it is done, every changed section is still marked. Keep takes them all. Undo puts your script back exactly as it was.
What it will not do
- It will not make up your numbers. If the script needs your subscriber count or what happened on day 3, it leaves a placeholder like [your subscriber count] instead of inventing one.
- It will not rename your script or rewrite parts you did not ask about.
- It only works on your video. Ask it to write code or an email and it will tell you, in one sentence, that it only helps with the script.
Why we built it this way
A first draft is never the problem. Every tool can write one. The problem is the second and third pass: the hook that almost works, the middle that sags, the line that sounds like nobody you know. That is the part we wanted the agent to do with you, where you can see it.
The new agent is in testing now. It opens to everyone once it beats the current one on our test videos.
Questions
Does the agent rewrite my whole script?
Only when you ask for a full script. For a narrow request, like a stronger hook or a shorter ending, it changes those sections and leaves the rest as you wrote it.
Can I undo what it did?
Yes. Every changed section is marked when it finishes. Undo puts the script back exactly as it was before the agent started.
